ORGANISERS of this year's Rosyth Centenary Children's Gala have said it will return next year after confirming a date for the event.

In May, the town held its first gala for 30 years as part of the celebrations to mark 100 years of Rosyth being established as Scotland's only garden city and it proved a huge hit, with up to 5,000 people turning out.

More than 1,000 residents walked alongside the gala parade from Park Road to Rosyth Public Park and the organising committee said that a return for 2017 was "very much on the cards", vowing to "try and make it just as good, if not better".

After inviting members of the community to get involved, a first meeting to discuss next year's event attracted 30 people and it will take place on Saturday, May 27.

Rosyth Community Council chairman and gala committee member Stephen Lynas said: "The gala is happening on May 27 and we've now got more volunteers involved.

"Last year's gala was put together by a core team of about half a dozen people but we had our first meeting for next year's a fortnight past and 30 people turned up.

"There's a real desire and goodwill to deliver the gala and we're delighted that so many people are keen to get involved."
