A KNOCKOUT day of fun on Saturday helped an Inverkeithing club that supports children with ADHD raise £6,000.

Hyperclub, which runs out of St John's Church, held a fundraising 'It's a Knockout' event at Ballast Bank with support from estate agents RE/MAX and declared it a "roaring success" in aiding their efforts to find a new home.

Ten teams came together to take part in the challenge, which also provided laughs with a 'teletubby challenge', 'ultimate relay penguin chase', 'canon run' and a 'foam pit', as well as bouncy castles, stalls and even people taking part in hair and eyebrow shaves.

Mum Suzie Connelly set up Hyperclub three years ago and it has since helped countless youngsters with learning difficulties or mental health problems by offering educational activities including karaoke, games and arts and crafts. She wants to offer greater support for more youngsters seven days a week by moving to a new premises with sensory rooms.

Suzie said: "Saturday was a roaring success and we've already got seven brand new teams signed up for next year. Everyone wanted to join in and we raised £2,000 on the day, with another £4,000 to be collected in sponsorship. It was amazing since we only put it together in 12 weeks.

"We've made a lot of people aware of who we are and they all want to help. We've made a lot of new volunteers and had a lot of interest from parents who want to use us. Fife Council are looking for alternatives for us but, in the meantime, we hope more people can help us find a new building or land to build on, which is where the money is going.

"A lot of people have asked what ages do we help, and at the moment it's five to 14, but a lot more people need help.

"Our aim is to do this every year because it was a fantastic day."
