A 41-year-old Kelty man was caught drug-driving the day after taking cannabis.

Brian O’Donnell, a project co-ordinator, of Centre Street, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on December 10 last year at Station Road, Kelty, he drove while over the limit for cannabis.

His reading was three microgrammes of THC per litre of blood, the limit being two microgrammes.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said that at around 4.45pm police had stopped O’Donnell because of a faulty headlight.

The officers “could smell cannabis from him and he seemed agitated” she added.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “He was unfortunate to be stopped for a minor road traffic matter.

“He’d been out socially the night before and there had been some consumption of cannabis. He’s extremely remorseful.”

Sheriff Susan Duff banned O’Donnell from driving for a year and fined him £110.
