A "DULL and uninspiring" playpark that's been on the slide for years is set for a £160,000 refurbishment.

The facility at Brock Street in North Queensferry is set for a major upgrade and Fife Council have agreed a request for additional funding.

Councillors on the South and West Fife area committee backed the bid for £10,000 from the local community planning budget.

A report explained: "The project’s objective is to upgrade the equipment in the Brock Street playpark.

"The current equipment is deemed to be dated, dull and uninspiring by park users and residents.

"Feedback from children and young people indicates that they want play equipment for younger children but also an area designated for more adventurous and challenging activity.

"Through the design and provision of specific equipment, it is intended that the park is accessible to all regardless of capability."

The North Queensferry Community Complex are the lead organisation and councillors were told on Wednesday that the group have received £30,000 from the Fife Environment Trust and there is also funding being provided through the council's playpark strategy.

They are continuing with their fundraising efforts and have applied to various organisations for money.

Cllr Brian Goodall said: "It's great to see so much funding going into our playparks and I think we can expect an application from the group working on Limekilns playpark.

"Their overall budget is even higher than this one so members should brace themselves for an application for considerably more than this one!"
