Local people have been consulted on where the traditional Lammas Fair should go if work on Inverkeithing High Street is not completed by August.

Residents were asked to have their say last week and the results of an online survey will be discussed at a meeting of Inverkeithing Community Council this week.

Its chairperson, Helen Doig, explained: "The Lammas Fair will go ahead. It is not affecting the Highland Games nor the Hat and Ribbon, it is the fair part.

"Because of the regeneration of the High Street this year, it is possible it won't manage to go in the High Street and we were given options of where it could go.

"These options have been put to the people of the town. We have had quite a reaction which is good, as it is the people of the town that the community council represents so it is important to hear what they say.

"At the moment it looks as if the Ballast Bank has had the most hits but that doesn't mean it will stay like that."

The consultation, which suggested several possible locations, closed on Friday.

"We have to let the Showmen's Guild know what has been chosen," added Helen. "That doesn't mean they will accept the place that has been chosen."

The Lammas Fair is due to take place in August.
